Transactional Analysis was developed by an American psychiatrist Eric Berne. He developed a method of psychotherapy that would be effective with very disturbed people as well as the less disturbed. A thriving form of psychotherapy it is the largest section in the Humanistic and Integrative part of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
Who it’s for
This is the official introductory course which is a pre-requisite for all further TA training. It will be of interest to those who wish to do further TA training, for those who have a personal development interest in TA and for those who want a basic introduction to TA.
Course Content
The course is a mixture of teaching, discussion and structured exercises to illustrate the material. The basic concepts of TA will be taught in an easy to understand manner. The course lasts two days.

Who it’s for
Those who have an introductory understanding of TA and wish to develop a thorough understanding in the theory and application of TA. Applications are considered from people who wish to use knowledge of TA to further their personal development. This module is also suitable for people who wish to utilise TA in a professional setting such as Social Workers, doctors, nurses, teachers, psychiatrists, psychologists, trainers and counsellors.
Course Contents
The course will consist of 240 hours which can be counted as part of the requirements for accreditation as a Transactional Analyst.

There will be 10 monthly two day modules over a two year period comprehensively covering the subject – the training always takes place on a Thursday and Friday.

Who it’s for
People with at least two years training in a core psychotherapeutic model such as TA or a recognised diploma in counselling. Students wishing to obtain a Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy. Students wishing to obtain a UKCP recognised qualification either as a Transactional Analyst or Integrative Psychotherapist. Participants need to be practicing psychotherapists or counsellors.

Advanced training focussing on an integrated approach to psychotherapy in which students are encouraged to draw from a wide range of psychotherapeutic approaches while concentrating on a core model that they have already studied for two years.

Exam Preparation
Preparing for TA or Integrative or oral exams.
One day bi – monthly group covering writing the case study, tape selection, tape presentation and handling the exam process.
All TA training modules take place on a more or less monthly basis, starting in October, on a Thursday and a Friday from 10am to 5pm.
